Rear Oil Seal

Post by balders » Wed May 25, 2016 9:10 pm

Hi guys, sorry to appear dim.....just pulled off the rear hubs to change the wheel cylinders and brakes and found an oil leak coming from the shaft. Is the rear bearing oil seal the one listed in the alternative parts list. 300x212x50?
Thanks

No, That's the front hub seal as it clearly says on the list ;)

The seal for the rear shaft is inside the diff housing, the bearing you can see at the end is lubed by grease using the nipple on the bottom of the axle tube. If you have hypoid oil at the end then the internal seal has gone.

Sorry, but I don't know what size it is. I remember Kev rebuilt a rear axle when he fitted a locker so he may know what it is. :good:

Thanks Alan. Bit of further investigation.
